The Appan Menon Memorial Trust proposes to award a grant of ₹1,00,000 (Rupees One Lakh) every year to professional journalists from India and South Asia working in the area of world affairs, development news, and environment news.

Journalists from any medium with 3-5 years experience can apply by submitting the following :

1. A brief proposal (1,000 words) stating the area and issues of your particular interest
2. An account of the proposed use of the grant and the time frame.
3. Resume
4. A letter of reference
5. Samples of recent work
